Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy focuses on the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of conditions affecting your joints, muscles, tendons, ligaments and nerves. Whether your symptoms have developed gradually or are the result of an injury, treatment is designed to reduce pain, restore movement and help you return to the activities you enjoy.
Pregnancy places unique demands on your body. Rachel provides specialist assessment and treatment for pregnancy-related pain while helping you stay active, comfortable and confident throughout your pregnancy.
Helping you recover following the birth of your child. Every postnatal journey is different. Whether you’ve had a vaginal birth or Caesarean section, your body deserves time, support and expert rehabilitation. A postnatal assessment helps you recover safely while rebuilding strength, function and confidence as you return to everyday life and exercise.
Some postnatal assessments may include an internal pelvic floor examination if clinically appropriate. This will only ever take place with your full consent, and your comfort, privacy and preferences will always guide your appointment.
Specialist care for pelvic floor dysfunction.
Pelvic floor dysfunction is very common, with approximately 1/3 of women reporting symptoms of incontinence and vaginal heaviness. However, this is something that women do not have to live with.
Rachel provides confidential assessment and treatment for a wide range of pelvic floor conditions, helping you better understand your symptoms and supporting your recovery with evidence-based treatment.
An internal pelvic floor examination may be recommended as part of your assessment but will only be carried out with your full consent. Rachel will always explain the reasons for the examination beforehand, answer any questions you may have, and ensure you feel comfortable throughout your appointment.
Physiotherapy-led massage is a targeted, therapeutic intervention based on expert clinical knowledge of anatomy, injury rehabilitation and movement analysis. Rachel uses massage as an additional tool to aid recovery and restore movement and reduce pain.
It is not always possible for some patients to attend the clinic, therefore we can provide Physiotherapy home visits to deliver expert care in your own environment. Home visits are offered around Biggar, Lanark and the surrounding areas.
You will receive the same quality of care, with a thorough assessment, diagnosis and treatment plan from the comfort of your own home.
A familiar environment enhances your ability to move safely and improve mobility. It allows the Physiotherapist to tailor your rehab prescription to the facilities you have in your home and allows a patient-centred care approach to your treatment plan.
Please note: community physiotherapy home visits are booked via enquiry only. Travel time for visits is discussed on enquiry.
There will be a slight price increase for home visits depending on the mileage travelled by the clinician to your home.
